Spiritual Knock-Off

If you have ever been to 'China-town' or some place similar, then you have seen the vans that carry the latest designer knock-offs, with very determined sales people who vow to you that the purses, shoes or clothes came straight out of the designers' factory. But the reality is that no matter how closely these knock-offs resemble the real deal, there is always that one feature by which anyone who knows a particular designers handiwork can tell that what they are looking at is not authentic.

The enemy preys on us in a similar way. He presents to us a replica of God's plan for us which looks almost as if it has the signature of God written all over it, and more often than not, we fall right into that trap because we refuse to pay attention to the details and we do not allow the Holy Spirit to lead us . Sometimes, because we have prayed so much for something, we quickly take the first option that comes looking like what we prayed for without questioning it. It is not until we find ourselves in some murky waters that we realize that it was a pawn all along. 

We end up putting oursleves in unpleasant situations and then go back to blame God. Meanwhile the signs were glaring at us; we were just too eager to pay $200 for what we know normally costs at least $1000. 

The good news is that, it is never too late to go for God’s original and veritable plan for us. He is patient and gives us the time to see the flaws in our decisions, not withstanding the many red flags that He has already shown us along the way. It is not always obvious that what we may be going for does not align with God's plan for us, especially when we're paying almost the same price for an imitation unknowingly. 

But the thing is, human as we are, if we are shelling out three grand on a designer handbag, we go the extra mile to make sure that we are getting our money's worth. We look out for the certificate of authenticity and we most likely will go to the designer's store rather than Chi-town to buy what we want. 

As children of God, we need to to be able to detect when we the enemy is giving us an imitiation of God's plan and reject it. God has his signature and we need to know it. He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us discern, and to lead us into His truth and purpose concerning our lives, and that is why we must walk in obedience and the leading of the Spirit. This year, let's drop whatever is imitating God's authenticity in our lives, and allow only God's plan to manifest fully.
